Wedding at Antico Borgo San Lorenzo 73

An Arakii Suit with Oversized Jacket for a Chic Italian Wedding at Antico Borgo

Kaitlyn and Stephen married in early May, right at the start of the Italian spring when the countryside is full of soft light and new colour. Their celebration took place at Antico Borgo San Lorenzo in Poggibonsi, a beautiful hilltop setting that offered the quiet charm and sweeping views they had hoped for when planning a destination wedding.

The couple wanted a day that felt classic, chic and true to them, with an all white and neutral palette that let the landscape speak for itself. Kaitlyn chose a cream Arakii suit rather than a traditional dress, which gave the whole celebration a fresh, modern edge while still feeling completely timeless. With the help of Tuscan Wedding Events, the day unfolded effortlessly and was captured beautiful on camera by D2 Photography. Enjoy!

No wedding will ever be truly timeless, because there are ever-changing trends in the wedding world, but I wanted our wedding to be as timeless as possible, and I was inspired by classic wedding colours and styles. I wanted everything from flowers to chairs to tablescape details to be white or neutral, relatively simple, and elegant.

Venue/Inspiration

Our venue was Antico Borgo San Lorenzo in Poggibonsi, Italy. We chose it because it is surrounded by the most incredible views of the Italian countryside. We wanted the natural landscape of Italy to be one of the main features of our wedding, and there was no shortage of it at the Borgo. The Borgo itself is gorgeous and charming and was the perfect size for our small wedding.

The Bridal Suit

Arakii

My suit was from Arakii, a relatively small Swedish brand that I love. I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress, so I chose a brand that makes incredible suits.

I knew that I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress after trying some on. I wanted to be comfortable and feel like myself. While I do love the occasional dress, I am a suit person through and through. I chose a cream suit with shoulder pads and an oversized look to fit the vision of myself that I had in mind for the day. I loved how the look turned out!

Another thing that I loved from the day were the sheer, embroidered, fingerless gloves that I wore. I got them from Tailored Tulle on Etsy, and they had ‘to have and to hold’ embroidered on one glove and ”til death do us part’, written on the other. They were gorgeous!

I did wear a veil for the ceremony, and it was from Veils by Rebecca on Etsy. It was beautiful! It came stark white, so I dyed it in tea to make it more of a cream colour to match my suit which was surprisingly easy to do and turned out really well!

My shoes were leather mules from Marcella NYC.

I wore Vanilla Skin by Phlur because it is light and skin-like. It’s a beautiful, somewhat subtle scent and it lasts a long time!

My hair and makeup artist was Karina of Karina Beauty.

Our flowers were by Luca Cozza – we decided on all white flowers; white roses, white hydrangeas, white peonies, and white tulips, to name a few of the flowers that we chose.

The Ceremony

My dad accompanied me down the aisle, and Stephen’s mother accompanied him. It was very special! I arrived at the ceremony to the sound of ‘Video Games’, by Lana Del Rey (the instrumental version). It has the most beautiful instrumentals of any song I’ve ever heard.

My aunt, Colleen, officiated the wedding ceremony and we wrote our vows. Here are some excerpts:

“Kaitlyn and Stephen, yours is a bond rooted in reverence and radiant love. Do you vow to love each other endlessly and without condition, and to offer your hearts freely and faithfully, for all the days you walk this earth?

“Do you vow to nurture each other’s dreams, to stand side by side through all seasons, in laughter and in quiet, in triumph and in trial, and wherever life may lead, will you be each other’s greatest champion, each other’s constant and closest friend?

Do you promise to grow hand in hand, to meet each moment with grace and courage, to be one another’s shelter when storms rise, and soft place to rest when the day is done?”

These rings symbolise your promises to each other: endless love, commitment, and a lifetime of shared moments. As you place them on each other’s fingers, let them remind you of the love you share today and every day moving forward.”

We had our rings custom made at a jewelry store in San Diego, California called Kasia. We chose them because they let us customise everything about our rings, and they were incredible to work with!

Photography

Our photographers were D2 Photography. We chose them because of the beautiful shots we saw in their portfolio, and they did not disappoint. They were an incredible team to work with, and they went out of their way to get every shot that we wanted. We would definitely recommend them to others.

Our videographer was @liberty.wed on Instagram. We loved them and the video turned out amazing!

My favourite parts of the day were the quiet moments that Stephen and I stole away from everyone. We were so giddy, and it was so special to just be alone for a few moments and enjoy the day together.

How They Met

Stephen and I met in college in 2015 when he was studying Business, Economics, and Social Studies (BESS) at Trinity College in Dublin and I was studying abroad in Dublin at University College Dublin studying Political Science and Philosophy.

Our first date was at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, and the rest is history. We got engaged in December 2023 in Todos Santos, Mexico (one of our favorite places on earth!) when Stephen proposed to me in the desert near the ocean and surrounded by cacti.

We were engaged for about a year and a half until we had our wedding in May 2025.

The Reception

The Borgo provided the food and it exceeded all of our expectations and was amazing!

Decor wise, we had candles of various sizes, green grapes, and white flowers styled on the tables, and used a lot of flowers to style the space generally.

I mainly used Pinterest for wedding inspiration. I like it because it shows you things that may not have ever crossed your mind, and there is no shortage of creativity to be found! It opened my mind to so many beautiful wedding details that I incorporated into our wedding.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

Make sure that you invest in a good wedding planner and get both a photographer and videographer! Our wedding planner saved us SO much time and so many headaches both throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding.

At the very least, I would invest in a day-of coordinator. Hiring both a photographer and videographer is also something that I wouldn’t forgo because it is so incredibly special to have a several videos and hundreds of photos to look back on. We would have regretted it if we didn’t have both!
